Timothy P. Sceviour

Tim was born and raised on Long Island, New York. In 1980 he graduated from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, magna cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, and a minor in Economics. He graduated from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree in 1984 and was admitted to the Georgia State Bar. He was commissioned as a United States Naval Officer in 1983, and served on active duty in the Judge Advocate General’s Corp, United States Navy, until 1987, when he affiliated with the Navy Reserve. He retired from the Navy in 2014 at the rank of Captain, following 30 years of active and reserve service.

Tim was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 1987. His areas of practice are family law, civil litigation, church representation, contract formation, small business formation/representation, and military law. He is an active member of the Norfolk Portsmouth Bar Association, and has served on various committees in support of the Norfolk Juvenile and Domestic Relations and Norfolk General District Courts. He has served on the board of directors of various non-profit organizations, was an adjunct instructor of law at Regent Law School, and has published articles in various legal journals and publications. He is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. Tim has been selected as a Virginia Super Lawyer as well as a Top Attorney in Hampton Roads.

Tim resides in Virginia Beach with his wife of over 30 years, and has three adult children. All of his children have graduated from college and reside and work in Hampton Roads, one of whom is also an officer in the U.S. Navy.
